I don’t write about places I love to visit over and over again, thinking it may get overcrowded in this social media influenced and Instagram inspired world. But my experience at Glamping ( Like Plogging, I thought it was a word gameplay but I understand the essence now) was so vibrant, distinct and more than anything a remarkably happy and contended that it deserves to be told. Of the hundreds of reasons why you should go, these five will definitely inspire you to give up your extra winter morning sleep and drive to this first ever attempt by Odisha Tourism at this level, Eco Retreat. Moreover, after Fani, striking back is a story of resilience.

1. Lively vibe and cheerful spirit

From sun-kissed beachline, starry nights, cool breeze, azure mornings and golden sands, this retreat destination gave me time to unwind and chill. Every visitor to eco retreat at Konark, whether glamping or just for a day long trip got and carried a happy vibe of affirming that Odisha has all potential and looked glad that we are exploring all the possibilities. People are visiting in large numbers and have all happy takeaways from it.

The evening performances by artists have a NH7 weekender type feel on the beach side, in my own home state. I was there for Papon and didn’t know there were so many young people like me who loved Papon too. It united me with some old friends and some strangers, all dancing to his Assamese numbers.

2. State of the art camps in the serene seaside

The camps are functional and beautiful. It’s the largest camping site that Odisha has seen. Infact, every time I was at Lotus Eco Resort in Konark, I thought why is there nothing available for all, looking at the site which is now used for glamping. And then seeing it in the life, blood and colors is just an untold wish coming true.

There are good food and liquour shacks. It got me over the moon! Cottages of different ranges — Deluxe, Royal, Premium and Villas with action packed adventure filled activities keeps one charged and walk by the beach helps rejuvenate. A classy mix of the two — adventure and retreat. There is a spa too!

3. Shack-y evening and adventure

Jet Skies, Banana Boat, Paragliding, nature trails, archery, zorbing, rifle shooting and much more besides endless winter chats with friends and family is what this retreat offered me. I spent the evening at the shacks and absolutely loved the experience because it’s in Odisha. Honestly, of all the beaches I have traveled to and partied at, Odisha is my favourite. Now, such appreciation is extended to people from far and wide. I video called all my Odia friends from the venue and they didn’t believe what they saw.

4. Warmth and Quintessential Odia Hospitality

Nowhere do you get to listen a ‘NO’. Everyone is energetic and working with a purpose. It really feels good to see things happening and moving. The management of the crowd and artists, some of which I personally saw, gave me a feeling that each one associated with it wants to contribute and make it an experience for all who visit. They are happy to help.

5. Odisha has arrived

Better late than never, Odisha has arrived. We don’t have to go to different beaches taking indirect flights. Because we have it all, in Odisha. World Cup Hockey, Dot Fest and now Glamping, we have set our own standards very high, and a big thank you to whoever is making it happen!
